About
Alex Morrison is the Digital Media Specialist for Monterey High School. His multimedia career has included a variety of roles as a Producer, Director of Photography, Editor, Still Photographer and Glidecam operator on a number of short films, fiction and non-fiction, including work in the art department on the feature film “The Island”.
Past experiences include work as a Multimedia Specialist with the Center for Teaching, Research and Learning and an Adjunct Professor at American University; Lead Salesman for Alan Gordon Enterprises, a major film equipment rental house; A/V specialist at TBWA/Chiat/Day; Video Mentor with NOAA-sponsored Ocean For Life; Curator of an independent screening series in my hometown of Oberlin, Ohio; staff at Camp Keewaydin and EXCO film instructor at Oberlin College.
Morrison's graduate thesis project “DIY: What Can I Do?” fuses social networking technology and art, consisting of a crowd sourcing website that encourages environmentalists to produce their own media and create an online presence. The site will eventually culminate in a collection of media on a specific theme that he plans to produce into a “internet-wide” environmental documentary.
His film work has been featured in film festivals, websites, and on PBS affiliates under the title “Ecoviews: Reclaiming the Bay”. He was selected as one of the ten best filmmakers of the year by Ithaca College.
